About Francisco Bassignana
Francisco Bassignana is a director of Krakovia Producciones. He was born in Santiago de Chile. He studied law. At the same time he started an artistic career and got acquainted with many actors, poets and film directors. After the law studies, he decided to travel to Europe where he settled and has been living for more than twenty years. In Europe he developed most of his artistic skills and qualifications, among them, drama studies at the Cuarta Pared in Spain and dance studies in the Ives Casatti School in France. In Paris he also studied pantomime at the Academy of Maximilien Decroux. Moreover, he studied with Corinne Sum and Steven Wasson in their Corporeal Dramatic Mime School, worked with the big mime master Marcel Marceau and did research and studies at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts. During that period he performed in French films, such as Le Chat Botté made by the CNDP and Ceux Qui M'aiment Prendront le Train directed by Patrice Cheraud. As far as theater is concerned, he played in the Compagnie du Renard with Michelle Galabru.
While developing his acting career, he gradually became more involved in street performances in many European cities, acting a living statue.
Currently he is working as a film producer, organizer of music concerts and a publisher of illustrated books. As part of these ventures, at present he is working with a Polish painter Joanna Styrylska who illustrates Russian and Polish traditional tales. As a film producer in 2014 at the Monaco Film Festival he was awarded for his first film, Made of Stone, receiving Best Short Film Award. Other awards for this movie include the second place in Bangalore International Film Festival in India and the First Award and the Audience Award in Po Godzinach Festival in Poland. In 2015 Made of Stone also received the Platynum Award in Indonesia at the Isenma Film Festival and gained more than twelve official selections, including the Shangai Film Festival. Recently he has represented Chile at The Short Film Corner at the Cannes Fim Festival as a producer of the film NIÑOS directed by Sebastian Olivari.
In Hamburg , Germany, he won three awards as an executive producer of a documentary film THE DIARY OF A BEHOLDER directed by Jarek Migon. This is the first film production between Poland and Chile.
Francisco Bassignana is also a representative of the Belarussian short film TWEENTY SIXTEEN within South American market. He is a producer of the music video clips For You and Love You Anymore featured by AFROJOCKERS. He produced and played the main role in an experimental short film PLASTIC LIBERTY directed by Jose Maluenda. He was also starring in Plastic Fingers filmed in England and directed by David G. Paradise - a short film that was awarded at the Monaco Film Festival 2015.
In 2015 and 2016 Francisco Bassignana was a member of the jury at the Independent Star International Internet Film Festival. This Festival is organized by Alena Yaremchuk in Kiev. In Ukraine he will also be performing a function of a project partner in the feature film ANTON directed by the Oscar nominee Zaza Urushadze. This movie will be released in 2018.
Soon at festivals we will see his last co-production of the Chilean documentary WINGKAMAPU directed by Alvaro Nuñez.
